Cautious Optimism

So after months of reading other blogs about adoption (I must admit, this has been an almost "guilty pleasure" for me and has taken precedence over reading trashy magazines and websites...who cares about Hollywood anyway, reading about the amazing kids from Ethiopia is much more entertaining) I've finally decided to create one. I'm a bit tenuous because I don't want to get too "excited" about our adoption, not yet. Like so many others, we have been waiting (and waiting, and waiting some more) to adopt a child from China. Our log in date was over two years ago and the process has brought us only hopelessness and frustration. You see, when we started the process the wait was only 18-24 months, which in theory means that we should have been home with our child by now. We were so excited when we started the China adoption, sharing the news with family and friends, thinking that it was a "sure bet". That is why this time we have decided to keep things hush-hush to avoid endless inquiries and excitement from others and to help us keep our emotions in check.

We are still on the waiting list for China but now we are pursuing an adoption of two children from Ethiopia!!! While we are excited about this adoption, we enter into it with cautious optimism. Our dossier was accepted in February and we are on all the waiting lists (infant/toddler and siblings)! I hope that writing this blog helps us through this time of waiting! Reading other blogs and looking at those gorgeous pics of IAN kiddos every Friday surely has...a huge thanks to all of you who post:D
