Sharing the good news
Steve and I are home (back east) for a week and have been telling our family and friends about the adoption. Since we accepted our referral so close to this trip home we decided to wait and tell people in person. It has been so much fun seeing people's reactions. We've had some excited screams, dancing and foot stomping and plenty of hugs and tears. Still more people to share the news with and we plan on making the "big announcement" at my birthday party this weekend. These kiddos are surely the BEST birthday present EVER!!!

Hope Happens on Friday the 13th!!!
So our cautious optimism has turned into cautious excitement, joy, disbelief, surrealism.....we accepted a referral for two beautiful toddlers.... a boy and.... a girl!!! We are overwhelmed with love for these kiddos already!!! Their sweet, sad eyes tug at our hearts and we can't stop looking at the pictures!! Unfortunately, we are unable to post the pics until they are officially "ours" but I can assure you they are gorgeous (as all Ethiopian kiddos are!!)
A few weeks ago we were given a referral to review. We decided to pass, knowing somewhere inside of us that something just wasn't "right". We felt such compassion for the children however something told us to wait. This go around I was overwhelmed with an immense energy and sense of immediate love and longing and Steve felt it too! These are our kids!! WOW!!

An Amazing Night
Last night we went to a local Ethiopian restaurant (Habesha) who kindly hosted a gathering for our agency's families. Being there was amazing! I couldn't stop staring at the beautiful children! We talked with some families and they shared their experiences which got us excited for when it is our turn. Someday our little ones will be right there in the mix dancing to Ethiopian music, enjoying their native food and making new friends!
